Key Background:

Coller Capital, a leading global investor in the private equity secondary market, has officially launched a new office in Singapore, further expanding its presence in Asia-Pacific. This development underscores the increasing demand from institutional and private wealth investors across Southeast Asia. The Singapore office, which opened on January 21, 2025, is Coller’s fifth in the region, joining existing offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, and Melbourne.

Peter Wu has been appointed as the head of product management and private wealth for the Singapore office. His role will focus on managing relationships with private wealth clients and overseeing the firm’s product offerings in the region. Coller has also recruited two local investor relations professionals to strengthen its operations in Singapore. The move reflects Coller Capital’s strategy to deepen its engagement with the growing investor base in Southeast Asia.

The Singapore office will primarily focus on secondary private equity deals, where existing investors sell their stakes to new investors or new funds. These transactions are gaining popularity as private equity in the region matures. According to Jeremy Coller, the Chief Investment Officer at Coller Capital, “The market for Asia-Pacific private capital is rapidly maturing with rising market volumes, and the opening of the Singapore office extends our commitment to the region.”

Coller Capital’s expansion into Singapore comes at a time when demand for private equity investments is rising among Asian investors. Notably, Asian investors represented more than 20% of participants in Ardian’s record-breaking secondary private equity fundraise of $30 billion, highlighting the region’s increasing importance in global private equity markets.

The firm, which manages approximately $36 billion in assets, continues to strengthen its position in the competitive secondary market for private equity. With its new office in Singapore, Coller Capital aims to leverage the region’s robust growth and further solidify its leadership in the private equity secondary market.
