Background

Decathlon has appointed Elena Pecos as the new chief executive officer of its business in the UK and Ireland, and Romain Gravigny as the chief operating officer. The move merges the operations of both regions under a single leadership team.

Since January 2023, Pecos has been the leader of Decathlon Ireland and has worked with the company since 2006. She started her career as a sales assistant in Spain and later in the UK. She has also held senior roles, including chief financial officer for Decathlon Chile and international management control. Pecos succeeds Eric Mazillier, who has been CEO of Decathlon UK since 2019 and will be leaving the company.

Gravigny joined Decathlon in 2007 and most recently served as CEO of Decathlon Australia. The appointments reflect the company’s focus on promoting experienced leaders who understand both global and local markets.

The change of leadership is accompanied by the good performance of Decathlon in the UK and Ireland. The UK and Ireland had sales growth of 15% and 20% in the first half of 2025, respectively, showing a positive momentum in the two regions.

Decathlon added that the new leadership structure will aid in better operational efficiency, reinforcement of its market presence, and additional growth of the sportswear and equipment offered by the company.

Heading the UK and Ireland teams, Pecos and Gravigny are determined to grow Decathlon and bring together the operations to maintain success in both markets.
